A woman's costume for Renaissance, Medieval, Pirate and Fantasy Faires and Festivals typically includes a bodice, chemise, and skirt at a minimum
The purpose of the bodice is to give shape and stability to your figure, lifting and supporting your assets in such a way as to be provocative without being revealing. Worn over a chemise, the bodice is protected from body oils and your body is protected from any potential chafing. In my opinion, a properly fitted full bodice should cover the naughty bits,while leaving a well defined and exposed bosom. The chemise can be adjusted to cover more, or less, as your sensibilities dictate. Depending on your figure, there may or may not be a valley created when the laces are tightened.
Paired with a skirt and chemise, you'll have the minimum garb to be ready for Faire. After that, it's all about the fun of accessorizing!!
